Unless I'm missing something here, you can just configure a db at a shared
location and set that location as the default for all servers from the
client update utility on one of them, which amounts to the same thing. I had
to decompress the .cab version to get access to update.ini though, which
isn't as slick as I'd like.

can anyone tell me why we can't configure the client update db at a
farm level if we want to point to a central location?
Also, why are the clients still requiring the .exe version of the
install. How come the .msi won't work? Why is it so difficult to allow
me to build a custom .msi client and push it through the db?
it seems to me that both of these options would make sense. am i
missing a feature here?
