As a bit of a lateral thought.

When the server freezes, does it free up after a short period of time?

Profile sizes...?
Hard disk performance...?

Are peoples sessions freezing as other users are logging on...

Disk subsystem had caused this behaviour for me in the past.

Subject: [THIN] Citrix locking up...

(1 Citrix Server, Windows 2000 SP2,Metaframe XPs FR2)

This morning the Citrix server is regularly locking up. Users that are
=3D
currently in Citrix the applications running freeze, but they can start
=3D
new applications from the start menu which then freeze themselvies after
=3D
a few minutes. =3D20

Anyone trying to log in, either via the Console, RDP, or ICA, it allows
=3D
the userid and password to be entered but then hangs with just the =3D
desktop background showing. The only thing that I can do then is reboot
=3D
the server.

Once the server is in this state, I have managed to launch Task Manager,
=3D
and the CPU usage is around 90% to 95% idle and memory usage is low.

The only thing that appears in the event log prior the server getting in
=3D
this state is the informational application log message:

Source: Winlogon
Event ID: 1002
Description: The shell stopped unexpectedly and Explorer.exe was =3D
restarted.

The server has now done this 4 times in the last 2 hours.

Any ideas as to why this is happening, or any pointers to=3D20

I would be very grateful for any help on this!

Thanks,
Steve Rance
