Hi everyone - I've been a lurker here since attending BriForum - great
source of knowledge.

I've got a job req for a Windows server admin with Citrix experience,
and couldn't find anywhere if it's appropriate or not to post such

Job Title:  System Administrator

Reports To: Director, IT 

Position Summary:

Primary responsibilities will include pro-active management of Active
Directory and domain environment. Major responsibilities include
management and day to day administration of key infrastructure systems.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal & written
communications skills and a thorough understanding of operational
practices is required to ensure systems remain available, secure,
consistent and supportable. The candidate will also need to be on-call
for support issues and/or problems encountered in the key environments.

Major Job Duties and Tasks


1.      Analyze and resolve first and second-level problems with the
local area network, Windows servers, and resident third-party vendor
software 

2.      Hardware and Firmware Management: Duties as they pertain to
server and related hardware components, to include installation and
configuration, management and troubleshooting, new technology research
and testing, system health monitoring, performance analysis, pre-failure
alerting, disaster recovery planning and exercise, firmware upgrade
maintenance, and warranty repair coordination. Predefined Maintenance:
Duties include routine system & process monitoring, front-line trouble
ticket resolution or escalation outage status tracking.

3.      Provide accurate and timely OS and application software
administration and upgrades.   

Mininum Qualifications

Education: A degree in computer science or a related field. 

Experience: Five years of system administration experience

Specific Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Must be able to work independently to troubleshoot, perform root cause
analysis, identify and isolate technical issues, and work in a
collaborative effort with other team members as necessary to quickly and
effectively resolve technical issues and provide timely status and
progress reporting to customers. 

Must be willing to take ownership of the issue analysis and resolution
efforts and commit to "doing what it takes" to resolve technical issues
regardless of the effort or timeframe required. 

Must have knowledge of and experience with Windows 2000/2003, IIS,
Citrix Presentation Server, IIS, TCP/IP application protocols, SMS, and
SAN. Operating experience with domain security, DHCP, DNS, WINS, and
Windows clusters is important. 

Experience focused on providing technical support across a broad range
of Microsoft technologies including:

* Server operating systems - Windows 2000 and 2003
* Active Directory
* Exchange 2000 and 2003



Position requires experience with Windows server configuration and
administration that extends beyond day-to-day monitoring and maintenance
activities. Knowledge and experience with server hardware components and
internals as well as server build and configuration experience is
required.



Experience working in a multi-server environment is required with
knowledge of clustering technologies and strategies. Microsoft
certifications are highly desirable.



In-depth experience with Active Directory (AD) and Exchange is required
with
demonstrated knowledge and experience with AD and Exchange design and
configuration architectures and strategies. Previous experience with
providing support for remotely connected customers and the associated
technologies (Citrix).

 

Licenses/Certifications:

A+, MCSA or equilvalent required, MCSE desired
