Citrix gives you a much better management layer than just plain-jane TS does. There are other products out there that can get you close, but nothing as centralized. You could create a system just using Terminal Services and other 3rd party software that *could* mimic a Citrix installation (like using Tricerat for printing, SMS for software/patch deployment, MOM for monitoring, and a web portal for RDP (where the name escapes me at the moment). It all depends on where you want to spend the money at. By no means am I claiming that Citrix is the end all solution, and that it's a great product. It has it's flaws, as does Terminal Services.
