True, there seems to be several version of each Rollup. This seems to flaw in Citrix's QA process that they haven't been able to pin down over the last couple of years (always releasing something.. True, Microsoft does it too, but not nearly as often as Citrix). A note on the updates/re-releases: The actual hotfixes those are part of the Rollup do not change, only the installer itself. If you've installed the original R02 you would be at the same patch level as R02.0.1. The reason for the updates/re-releases is to fix installation issues. Until you see hotfixes emerge with a R02 dependency I would assume they could release another version/update. In addition if you don't keep up with these deployments it seems the first prereq for support is to deploy/test the roll up.. Therefore the best time to trust the rollup in my humble opinion (after testing) is when they are finally done. This last run I had almost every hotfix they offered so I could therefore just wait. Either way I am in complete agreement/understanding of all you posted. Citrix may rollup a hotfix into another hotfix if both hotfix contains like binaries. Every so often, Citrix will take the hotfixes today and create a single installer and call it a Rollup. If you take R02 for PS 4 as an example: R02 contains all the hotfixes that have been released since the base product was released. The general rule of thumb for installing Rollup and Hotfixes are: Apply the lasted Rollup Apply recommended post-rollup hotfixes (These are seen from time, particularly printing) Apply additional post-rollup hotfixes on as needed bases (to address a particular issue you're encountering) Joe _____ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Holley, Mark Sent: Tuesday, December 05, 2006 10:00 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Citrix PS 4 hotfixes I have taken the attitude to (unless there is a major issue) wait to deploy the Rollup until they are done with new versions. Considering they started creating hotfixes with the rollup as a dependency would spell out that no new versions of the roll up will be made. That is my take on it. How do you guys move on these patches..certainly not right away.? I don't see Citrix moving away from that anytime soon. It does seem that they have moved away from calling them servicepacks.
