You don't have to run the DR servers at full capacity - you could always
have slightly different server Load Evals on them so that their max usage is
less.
Backend - things like, exchange; internet proxy; file and print; sql/oracle,
remote access solutions if you've got them - that mad little server that no
one dares touch with the finicky finance application which, it turns out, is
vital to the running of the business and you only get round to finding
*that* out when you're stood in 2.5' water - those sort of backend services
- what are your plans for those and the associated logon scripts for file
shares and printers that may well be unavailable. You can use aliases or DFS
rather than explicit server names - so in the event of a disaster your admin
changes to redirect users to alternative file servers are minimized.
For licensing - you can have a standby MS license server that's been
authorized and the citrix license grace period is 30 days. So, if you've got
your backups you can restore to a VM and should be ok. If it's a simple
server failure its not a problem, but its useful to think on about it as if
you've had a full scale disaster that's going to have a longer term impact
its one of the things that can get over looked.

Hi Andrew
Good Point. I'll look at utilising the servers in DR also. I simply need
to ensure the 100Mb link doesn't get saturated. You also make a very good
point on versions. I'll ensure the Web Interfaces are the same version on
both ends.
What backend services are you referring to? We use Active Directory for
authentication. We have DC's in both sites.
Ive made a copy of existing apps and have disabled / hidden them. These
apps are associated with the DR servers. I was simply going to enable the
applications in a DR scenario. We use AD groups to grant application
access. Since the applications are copied, these AD settings remain on the
DR apps. If I used servers in both sites then I could remove the DR
applications as the production ones would work anyway.. Would I be correct
in stating this? I duplicated the applications as I assume all Published
Applications will dissappear in a DR scenario as all Production Citrix
Server in Site 1 will not be available hence my duplicating and assigning to
DR servers.
The Licensing Server is on our Zone Data Collector in Site 1.. I actually
forgot about this all together.. We have a ZDC in DR but it doesn't have
licensing installed. Whats the best way to replicate this? Should I simply
Restore the Production ZDC / Licensing server to a server in DR (without
changing the server name)? Whats the best way to do this??
Thanks
