[THIN] Re: CPS 4.5 upgrade - changing farm metric server

Your license server needs to be update to the latest version and you'll need
licenses for 4.5.

Subject: [THIN] Re: CPS 4.5 upgrade - changing farm metric server

So I have CPS 4.5 installed on two servers and made them the FMS's.
However, I can't run applications on them. I called Citrix support for
licensing and they told me that the license server has to have the full CPS
4.5 installation installed on the license server, not just the license
service. I sure don't remember seeing this anywhere in the documentation.

Is this a new requirement?

Thanks for the response Joe -

I didn't know if the farm would panic if I changed the farm metric server
from a CPS 4.0 server to a CPS 4.5 server. After reading the CPS Admin
guide, I think I'll be ok. Otherwise, I would upgrade an existing W2K
Server (with CPS 4.0) to W2K3, then to CPS 4.5 and make that the FMS.

Got about 40 servers to upgrade in the next few weeks. Wish me luck!!!! :)

You would need to. Now that the Datastore has been upgrade to 4.5, all your
metric servers need to upgraded if you expect them function.

Don't forget to setup the rmsummarydatabase ODBC connection on the new 4.5
server before making it the metric server.

I installed a CPS 4.5 server from scratch and joined it to our CPS 4.0 farm.
Can I safely make it the new farm metric server? The existing 4.0 servers
are running Windows 2000 so I would first have to upgrade them to Windows
2003 before the CPS 4.5 upgrade.

Thanks for any input.
