[THIN] %CLIENTNAME% unreliable?

I use a logon script that logs user logons to a file with a command like

echo ==== /%USERNAME%/%CLIENTNAME%/%COMPUTERNAME%/%DATE%/%TIME%/ >>%log%

The problem is, it seems the %CLIENTNAME% variable is unreliable.
Sometimes it's null, sometimes it's the same as %COMPUTERNAME%, for all I
know sometimes it's just plain wrong.

Now, it seems to me I read somewhere that that variable is set
asynchronously, and may not be accurate, especially early in a logon. Does
that sound familiar? And do you know of any way to make it more accurate?
