In order to resolve an application set, the clients need to talk to the
server. Clients will try to find Citrix servers via a broadcast on UDP 1604.
If this is MetaFrame XP, your servers will not answer - the UDP method of
resolving application sets is a MetaFrame 1.0/1.8 mechanism, and, while it
can be enabled on a MetaFrame XP server, is no longer the recommended
method. Even if you did enable it, your servers wouldn't respond because
your VLANs are separate broadcast domains.
You need to give your clients an IP address (or DNS name) of one or more of
your servers. If your servers are running the XML service, which they should
be by default, they will respond to your clients on port 80. On the 'Find
New Application Set' dialog, click Server Location, ensure that HTTP/HTTPS
is selected, click Add, and add the DNS name or IP address of one or more of
your servers.
As an aside, another way you can do this with minimal client configuration
(assuming you have control of the clients' name resolution) is to create a
DNS or WINs record called 'ICA' that resolves to one or more of your Citrix
servers. The ICA client will, by default, try to resolve application sets
using the name 'ICA' first.
