Yep and yep. I am testing on Wyse S30 CE.net-based devices. I can hear
sound when I use the IE browser add-on and the media player add-on and
browse to a sound file. I just can't replicate the action within a
Citrix session.

Maybe a dumb question, but do you have sound enabled on the Wyse units?
What model(s) of Wyse are you running?
Do you have sound enabled in the Citrix Connection Configuration Tool
- ICA Settings?
