Have a look at these. These may explain your issues. 6.5.4 Does have a dodgy
installer.

Yeh...that's what I'm going to do this morning. I haven't read anything
about these installer issues Mathras has been talking about, but it is
rather concerning.

Hi Jeremy,
That looks like an issue with the installer, since it's basically done a
single-user (as opposed to all users) installation as far as registry
entries are concerned.
An all users installation "ought" to be creating those keys under HKCR, not
HKCU\Software\Classes.
I'm betting that if you export the admin's hkcu\software\classes key, edit
the reg file to change instances of HKCU to HKLM, and import, you'll have
things working fine.

Well...I haven't done much work with Notes, but deploying it manually seems
to work fine. The program itself works okay when deployed through
Installation Manager, but the Send To function fails. After tracking using
Filemon and Regmon I found that users were missing registry keys that were
there for the Administrator (or the account that Installation Manager
uses).
From the Administrator's registry...
HKCU
-Software
--Classes
---.ndl
---.ns2
---.ns3
---.ns4
---.nsf
---.nsg
---.nsh
---.ntf
---CLSID
---Interface
---Notes
---Notes.Link
---Notes.NotesSession
---Notes.NotesUIWorkspace
---TypeLib
Whilst all users only have...
HKCU
-Software
--Classes
---Notes
If I export the Administrator's Classes key and import them to users, the
Send To function works fine. Hence the reason why I wanted to push it out
by the shadow key.
I guess I can always just place this in the HKCR.
As to why it doesn't deploy correctly in the first place, I guess that this
is something I need to work on.
The customer has done most of the work. I've just done the fault finding,
but would be interested in knowing how you deploy it and what changes you
make in HKLM.
Cheers.

Hello there Jeremy,
I was interested in your requirement for the Lotus Notes 6.5.4 reg keys.
Im using "Send To" fine on Citrix without having to add anything to user
registry hives. Plenty of areas to change but nothing in the users registry
hive has been required.
I do make changes but these are global changes stored in HKLM.
Are you running Notes purely for certain users ? are all users using Notes
?
BTW unrelated..
Did you have issues with the Notes 6.5.4 installer ?
and Do you use the new ini file setting to enable attachments to be
detached
in areas other than the Local temp folder ?
Regards,
M

Subject: [THIN] Advice for using the shadow key structure
Hi All,
I'm having problems getting part of the shadow key to populate the
HKCU\Software key, and just want confirmation that what I am trying to do
is supposed to work.
Notes Client 6.5.4 requires some keys in the HKCU\Software\Classes key
structure. It works fine without these keys, but the "Send to" function of
Windows doesn't work without it. So I have placed this info in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Terminal
Server\Install\Software\Classes key, hoping that it will populate the
HKCU\Software\Classes structure when the users login, but it doesn't work
on any of the servers. I am wondering if the Classes key structure can
actually be populated like this.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
