Actually I have done considerably more work on this since I wrote to the list.
So far I have it completely locked down, and have gotten it to work using RIS
services.
We have a manufacturing client that just upgraded all there office's pc's so we
have an excess of older computers. We were thinking of just base neoware
terminals for the shop, but in order to get all the functionality we needed we
would have had to go with a thin client with XP, not Linux, or CE. This added
to the cost. Everything seems like it will work using Bartpe and RIS as the
machine do not need CD, hard drive, or floppies. And if they do break we don't
care, we just grab another old machine and we are up and running.
The limited process's is not really an issue, I will have to get them to reboot
at night, but other than that my big problem is getting program neighborhood to
work. Direct server connections work, but application set just don't want to
work.
Any Ideas?

hi eric
bart´s pe disk works great if your´re looking for an emergency
boot disk including anti-virus, ghost, disk commander and the
like. although you can put a pre-configured ica-client into the
auto-start folder your pc won´t work great as a locked-down xp
thin-client. the pe disk starts with a switch which allows xp
to boot from cd-rom without a swap-file. unfortunately this
forces the os to stop working after 24 hours and it´s also
limited to 6 processes. have a look at pxes project instead:

Hi All,
We have been playing around with BartPE. Does anyone have a good Config
file example, which launches Program Neighborhood at startup, and locks
down all other options?
Also is it true that it only works for 24 hours, and then requires a
reboot? Something about a preinstallation environment limitation from
Microsoft?
