Have you looked at the local/domain policies to make sure that the domain user
you are trying has "Log on Locally" privs to the 2003 server?

I found the following message in the archive as I am having the same
problem! Not only do I get the logon error when trying to login with a
domain account, but I noticed some events logged that are basically stating
that the domain does not exist. It does exist, and there is connectivity, &
DNS resolution.
I can't seem to figure this out! Just wondering if you may have found
anything to solve your issue?
This is my first time working with server 2003 and so far all I've dealt
with is this problem!
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Subject: [THIN] AD oddness
Ok I have a very weird problem here, I have a test network with
server 2003 enterprise edition installed on it. It is simply 2
machines currently, one is the Domain controller. When I try to log
into the other server with a domain account through RDP I get the
following error message.
The system cannot log you on due the the following error.
The specified domain either does not exist or could not be
contacted.
Please try again or consult your system administrator
However, If I log into the machine itself with an RDP session (eg.
The administrator on the local machine) I can then open Further
Domain account sessions most of the time. I am going nuts here with
how flaky this AD domain is acting.
