No, it's the traditional, start this app blah blah blah, or You can use RDP
files 9though if you store them centrally you are required to authenticate
each time.
Or you can get Claudia's portal for TS, that's pretty good solution if you
just need to publish apps.

Does RDP do published apps in 2003?

Not really. I mean looking at the sec audit requirements and what not, I am
not sure you will get dinged. Lets assume you are a bank, and someone says:
Ok we want 20 desktops accessed remotely. And the only argument you have for
a Citrix implementation over straight RDP is one version of 128 bit
encryption over another. I am not sure it would be enough. Now I am not
saying that I don't think Citrix is a fit in all environments, I am just
dealing with the single issue of two different protocol streams both at 128
bit encryption.

Now the arguments can be made for Server certificates used with SSL, etc etc
etc. Does that make the encryption itself stronger? not really, but it will
ensure you know who you are talking to and the use of CSG will limit access
points into the network in a multi-server environment, etc.

I guess my point is, that for a small implementation, the argument of one
over the other wont always win you the battle, it all comes back to money
eventually.

Depends, if you're a bank or have a need for maximum security that might be
the only bullet point you need.

When going into CSG ssl encryption Vs. the RDP encryption available
arguments can be made for "ICA over SSL is more secure than 128 bit
encrypted RDP", this is true, But again, its an argument to be made if you
need another bullet point to add to a list of reasons you want to use to
justify the additional cost of Citrix.

If it is your only bullet point, it's a rather weak one right?

While both have encryption you can turn on, I would say with CSG your stream
is more secure.

Back to the 2003 RDP vs Citrix ICA debate. If accessing published apps or
desktops across the WAN, isn't ICA more secure or I should say can't you
make ICA more secure with Secure Gateway? Or is that not an accurate
assessment?
