Thanks for the reply Joe. I was looking at the XML settings because that's
where I thought the problem would be too. We have some servers using port
8080 for XML communication and some servers using port 80 (sharing with
IIS). Yeah, I'm sure that's not recommended, but somehow happened.
I managed to "patch" the problem last night. I'll explain how I fixed
things in case any one else comes across this problem. It all started with
loading the 10.2 PN client on the Citrix servers. This client did fix a
couple of our other issues with application errors (IE and Explorer
terminating, screen saver lockouts, etc). However when a user with a WYSE
terminal attached to a server with the new client and then "jumps" to
another server running an application that isn't on the current server, it
puts the following line in their pn.ini file:
Username=[sspi]
I thought the line was harmless, but when the user tries to run an
application that IS loaded on the server they are running PN from, it
doesn't run it on that server, it connects to a different server. And to
make matters worse, their cursor disappears in many apps (Microsoft Outlook
and Word 2007 the worst).
When I remove that line from PN.ini, they can then run apps on the server
they are connected to. But how to keep the pn.ini file from changing???? I
made it read-only and that fixed that problem. In order to fix the problem,
I made the original file on the Citrix server read-only (C:\Program
Files\Citrix\ICA Client\pn.ini), then deleted the Application
Data\Citrix\ICAClient\ directory from everybodys roaming profile. When they
logged back on, it copied the pn.ini from the server to their profile
directory (keeping the read-only attrib).
Yea, problem "fixed". Just glad the new client is fixing the other problems
we had. All those fixes justified the doubling in size of the client I
guess :)
