Send interesting sightings, complete with species name, location, and contact information to Nate McGowan at natemcgowanbirds@xxxxxxxxx. -Rarities found this week- A LONG-BILLED CURLEW was observed in Bastrop county, 6/29. A juvenile PEREGRINE FALCON was a great find in Travis county on 6/28. The bird was well photographed. A calling male YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER was reported at Emma Long Metropolitan Park on 6/30; this bird is relatively localized in the RBA circle. A BALTIMORE ORIOLE described in Caldwell county 7/2 is a good find for July. -Continuing birds from previous weeks- One SWALLOW-TAILED KITE was observed in Bastrop county on 7/1 near Tahitian Village where multiple individuals have been recently seen. More reports are encouraged on this exciting find. Reports for the Austin area RBA cover a 60 mile radius, centered on the Capitol in downtown Austin. Bird sightings mentioned here have been filtered and scrutinized by the compiler and are believed to be genuine. When documentation or photographs were provided, that is mentioned along with the other information about the bird(s) being seen.
