at 1:15pm i was in hitchcock thinking it would be easy to find the exact
location with all the cars on the side of the road
meanwhile at impoundment the black tailed godwit took flight, all the
birders present apparently scattered looking for a landing site
by 1:30 when i passed the impoundment there were no cars, no people and i
thought i hadn't gone far enough ... went to cr 208 and turned around ...
when i came back joseph kennedy had just parked and was scanning the
impoundment ... as i walked up he gave me the location which was easily
spotted ... as i started taking pics another car joined us and then another
and another ... each in turn asked if it had returned and answered in the
affirmative ... i could only conclude most of these people had been there at
1:15 and watched the godwit disappear, only to reappear 15 minutes later
once during the short period of time i was there the godwit did the
helicopter maneuver described by clay taylor, at which time i was able to
get a shot of the underwings
