Today we had a little break in the freezing temperatures but we had to contend
with heavy fog. We wound up with a nice total of 69 species +2 other taxa
without any views of the lake. It was an exciting day with Wood Ducks, Hooded
Mergansers a Merlin and a Pileated Woodpecker at Deaver Pond. On farther down
the road we saw a flock of 33 Wild Turkeys a group of wild hogs and a Greater
Roadrunner. Upon exiting Meadow Pond Road we decided to go look for the
Red-headed Woodpecker by the fishing hole On Big Mineral Creek and were
successful. We turned around heading back to complete the day and found a Bald
Eagle sitting in the big Cottonwood by the Big Mineral picnic area.
