Loggerhead Shrikes are fairly regular in Summer in the Weslaco area. Seems they like the same stuff that attracts Tropical Kingbirds; open mowed areas with scattered trees like city parks and school campuses. This summer there is a pair near the entrance to the park on 18th St. along the jogging track. I saw them fly out of a small oak that had a nest in it. Don't know if it was their nest. Another pair is hanging out on Border in the open area east of the large HEB distribution center. Dan Jones, Weslaco
