The Austin area Rare Bird Alert is a service of the Travis Audubon Society.
This update is as of Time on DATE. Send interesting sightings- complete
with species name, LOCATION, and contact information- to Kenny Anderson at

-Rarities Found This Week-

A Marbled Godwit was photographed at Travis County park Bob Wentz/ Windy
Point Park on 9/3.

A Swallow-tailed Kite was mixed in with some migrating Mississipi's over a
Bastrop County home on 9/1.

A Black-headed Grosbeak was photographed at a Gonzales County residense on
9/3.

A Ruddy Turnstone was reported at Hornsby Bend in Travis County on 9/2.

Long-billed Curlews: 1 over a Bastrop County home on 9/1 and one
photographed at Bob Wentz/Windy Point on Lake Travis 8/30-9/3.

A Philadelphia Vireo was along the Cowhouse Creek arm off of Belton Lake on
9/5 in Bell County.

Chestnut-sided Warblers: one ona Bastrop County route on 9/4 and one at
West Bouldin Greenbelt in Travis County 9/2.

A Sanderling was photographed on Lake Travis on 9/2,3.

-Continuing From Previous Week-

4 Wood Storks continue on the pond on CR436 south of 79 in Williamson
County on 9/2.

Reports for the Austin area RBA cover a 60 mile radius, centered from the
Capitol in downtown Austin. Bird sightings mentioned here have been
filtered and scrutinized by the compiler and are believed to be genuine.
When documentation or photographs were provided that is mentioned, along
with the other information about the bird(s) being seen.  For questions or
updates about birds mentioned here or to report rare or unusual bird
