Send interesting sightings- complete with species name, LOCATION, and contact information- to Kenny Anderson at kennya290@xxxxxxxxx -Rarities Found This Week- A Royal Tern is completely unexpected inland, especially without a tropical storm's help. An alternate plumage bird was photographed at Bob Wentz/Windy Point Park on the Lake Travis portion of the Lower Colorado River on 6/24 (Travis County) A Blackpoll Warbler photographed at Converse North Park in Bexar County is an amazing find on June 24. Totally unexpected for the date. A Common Pauraque, heard this week at a Bastrop County home, is locally very difficult- possibly under-detected in the southern portion of the 60 mile circle? A White-tailed Kite was on Llano CR 408 just northeast of Valley Spring on 6/18. A Verdin found in Caldwell County was a real surprise on CR 159 (Perrytown Rd.) just west of 86, possibly a new county record. Male and female Baltimore Orioles photographed at Roy Guerrero Park below the Longhorn Dam in Travis County on 6/21 are a great local discovery. 2 Least Terns were low fly-bys at Windy Point/ Bob Wentz on 6/24. A Willet was described on the shores of Lake Travis. It was seen across from Windy Point to the West/Northwest. Zone-tailed hawks are being seen regularly along Riverside Drive in Tahitian Villabe in Bastrop County 6/19-24. Brown-crested Flycatchers are going the way of Couch's Kingbirds, Ringed Kingfishers, and Least Grebes- becoming regular enough that following on Ebird may be the best way to find locations. 5 Brown-crested Flycatchers reported from Bastrop State Park are good tally. Ospreys at Westcave Preserve 6/22 (Travis) and Windy Point 6/24. -Continuing From Previous Week- A Herring Gull at Decker Lake continues next to the boat launch. 6/27 Reports for the Austin area RBA cover a 60 mile radius, centered from the Capitol in downtown Austin. Bird sightings mentioned here have been filtered and scrutinized by the compiler and are believed to be genuine.
