[TechAssist] win98se start up problem?

hi guys:i have win98se on one my desktops,but when i turn my computer on it 
comes up with the password window.normally this would never happen,so i have to 
hit cancel to activate windows.once im in the icons in the desktop is 2 times 
larger plus i have no action with the mouse.i did a diagnostic check and it 
indicated everything was alright.i tried just about everything i no to normal 
this problem mayby i missed something.i have all my important files and 
programs on this computer.if anyone can help me i would highly appreciate it .
