[TechAssist] Re: source for parts

If it is an obsolete part, try a search of "obsolete integrated circuits".
This will return lists of companies that specialize in them. Their Web sites
have lists of the parts they have and usually have a search form so you dont
have to scan through the lists.
Some time ago I had a customer that had large numbers of electronic scales
all over the country in amusement parks and game arcades. Quite a few of
them were inoperative and they had us repairing the custom computer board
that controlled it. One part that he had been trying unsuccessfully to find
for years was an obsolete Intersil A/D coverter. We tried that search and
found a bunch of places that had some of them, and one place that had over
100,000 of them.
