[TechAssist] Re: samsung ct6335 flyback arced through crack, new onewon't work

Get an original, take the loss and learn from this. Some generics work and
some don't and non working focus is a dead giveaway.Just for the experience
you should probably back up a similar crt on the bench and run it,just in
case it is a wierd short in the crt.Maybe you can locate a similar set and
sub.How old is this set?
I once bought a similar Samsung at K Mart for the parts, saved money.
Good luck al

Subject: [TechAssist] samsung ct6335 flyback arced through crack, new one
won't work

> I purchased an aftermarket flyback from Global in Mississauga to replace
the original which has a crack in the case and arced to other components
near. I installed two of these units and got the same results-very low
brightness and no focus adjustment. In fact the focus also acts as a
brightness control. When I measure the G2 I get about 15 to 20 volts even
when I pull the crt socket. I measured the other scan derived voltages and
most are close enough except the 200v which is about 160v. I believe that
there is a mistake in the make up of the transformer but the supplier keeps
telling me I have a problem in the chassis.I have checked all components in
the appropriate areas (abl) and can't find anything wrong. It has taken about
three months to get the new part because of back order so the customer has
been waiting for quite awhile. I do not know what to do anymore so I am
asking if anyone has a suggestion.
> By the way the same thing happened with an original Samsung a few years
ago so I thought I would try an aftermarket instead.
