 When i get something like that in i junk it after i put it in a sealed 
plastice bag.    But if you really want to fool with it,. i suggest replaceing 
all the pc mount switches because they are contaminated with the bug residue. 
the vol dn and up and chan dn and up and all other switches form a ladder and 
if one or more become resistive it changed the effective voltage drop and you 
get all sorts of crazy results when you push the buttons.
