[TechAssist] Re: pop up commercials

Wilbert, I believe that was only with AOL he was talking
about. But with another ISP, I can tell you that 'most' of
the time, the ISP's software is not needed. They only way to
know for sure is to uninstall it. Your ISP will NOT tell you
if it is not needed in most cases. Then, just go to your
dialup networking folder and 'make new connection' and enter
your login info that way. Depending on your ISP, this will
remove any ISP supported/generated adds.

If they are pop up banner adds added 'on the fly', there is
software that can eliminate these. Personally I use "PopUp
Stopper". I don't have the info on these programs just yet
on this new HD, but you can go to www.hotfiles.com and enter
things in the searchbar like... adds adware banners
banner killer
banner stopper add stopper add killer popup killer pop
up killer
pop up stopper popup stopper etc. and you can find
them.
