Hi Ron, You don't need a CDROM driver to load XP. The XP CD is bootable and will simply boot when the PC starts up (as long as you have the first boot device set as CDROM in SETUP, and you watch the bottom of screen for the prompt to press any key to boot from CDROM). In other words you don't have to be in Windows to install XP. And certainly there are no Windows drivers used when you aren't in Windows. BTW, if you can't find a driver at driverguide.com (username: drivers, password: all) you may have trouble finding it elsewhere, however Windows almost always has a good driver for any CDROM. Just install XP and it will prompt you to format (use NTFS file system for best stability) and install XP. The CDROM will almost certainly work fine in XP when finished. If you want to keep your personal files on the hard drive, just create another partition (D:) and move them there first, or contact me for other instructions. -- Best regards, Bil Green PC 1000 Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546 760-924-1000 mailto:tv.vcrrepair@xxxxxxxxxxx Sunday, June 27, 2004, 2:07:41 PM, you wrote: RMdbaCT> Have been all over Google and the net, also Toshiba and Compaq.
