Hi Mark,

Sounds like big bucks to purchase the interface you need. I built a project
like this for my son's school a few years back. Used a PIC micro controller
for the brains. Used a computer via RS232 interface to send commands to the
micro controller which did most of the work, basically the computer sent
start, stop and reset commands, also had the ability to set the clock to
whatever time. The whole thing took a week to build, program and test. I
could build another one for a price. If interested email me personally. Do

   similar to what I want however that's just a Vellman kit and not enough
outputs,  I need 28 minimum so the numbers  88:88 can be displayed if
needed.   hoping to interface through rs232  from old 486 ?  and require a
manual input of the score of the time lapse,  finding it may cost as much to
build as to buy.  usually the case.
thanks again I'm still looking.   hoping one of our recreation people can
come up with an old score board from softball field or basketball court and
donate it.  they seem to replace these once in a while.  I've worked on a
few and they seem to change once in a while.  I wonder where the old ones go
?

     the light board itself seems to be the big ticket item.  not sure if I
can build it using jumbo led's or 12 tail light bulbs cheaper.
   open for any ideas.
