On any convergence problem,or when I have to remove a picture tube for
repairs,I always center the Red and Blue Convergence adjustments.
Assuming the Green is centered,Cover the blue Picture tube.Adjust the Red
Convergence Completely Left to Right, and Up and Down.If it's distance from
the Green is greater in one direction than it is in it's opposite
direction, adjust the centering Magnetics to Equal them.IOW,if it adjusts
further Right than it does Left of the Green, adjudt the centering magnets
to equal the Right and Left distance.
Then Cover the Red,and check the BLue Convergence.
BTW,when I repair one of the Phililps/Magnavox Pix Tube Coolants,I check
the Convergence First before I remove the Green or Blue Tube. After
repairing and reinstalling the Tube, check the centering of that tube. The
centering magnets are easily moved.
Also,in the RCA/GE Splitter replacement,I have many times inadvertently
moved the centering magnets.

So checking the Centering of the Convergence adjustments really should be
done on any PTV repair
