[TechAssist] Re: Zenith TV 9-1474 Isolate Transformer

Tony,
I have been able to save all of the Zeniths that I have worked on for
shorted CRT. I use an old homebrew Beamer CRT Tester. I just clean each gun.
May have to do it several times, but it seems to work OK. My tester has
variable filament voltage, and I clean at high,~8v and low,~4v. I even quit
using the isolation transformers. Haven't had one come back yet. Probably
done about 20 for this problem.

I have not had any luck restoring the CRT, if it's weak, it's history.

Good luck.
Paul W

I have not been successful with installing the isolation transformer on the
Zenith TVs manufactured from I think 93 or 1994 to 1996 -I replace all the
parts and get running install the isolation transformer let it sit running
and eventually within maybe minutes or hours it starts to ark (retrace lines
and bright screen)and I know it's going down if I don't shut off-I've been
bitten by this so many times I would just rather pass on them but I need
every job I can squeeze out of here now-any help guys? Thanks -- Tony
