I use the volume on the TV as to not have too many remotes laying around.
Set the receiver at about 1/4 of the way high.

I think that if you keep the volume low on the TV it won't do no harm. Do
you use the volume on the TV to control the volume or the receiver? I guess
if you only use one it doesn't hurt. I just always thought that you should
use the fixed output.
