Ty,
Check the tension band, perhaps it is missing or torn.
Check the tension arm, perhaps it is not in load position, missing spring..not 
in line, etc.

This is the one that has the circuit board that lifts up like a car's hood.
Thing came in for eating tapes. The Idler drag clutch was bad. I fixed the
mechanicals, Now it won't lock on.
I am pretty sure the problem is the PG pulls shaper cap that is usually on
the Capstan motor.
Does anyone remember where this cap is located on the board?
I had the manual for this series, whit all my notes, but can not remember
whom to remind to return it.
