If this spurs too much conversation, we can take this over to "chat".
I from time to time have people call me and ask if I can solder in a
small part, a solder in battery, etc.
I get some cap mecanics with a wiring harness and need one soldered
wire, or the maintanence tech from a local factory with a smal circuit
board where you can see a cold solder joint, replace a capacitor, etc.
Just got a call form a man who had to remove the two small (credit card
size) circuit boards from his car seats. These have a small litium
memory cell that remembers the seat positions for the drivers without
having to readjust everything. he asked if he brought them in in his
hand(no removal/reinstalling in the car) could I remove and install the
small battery on it. Must be similar to the bios battery on a
motherboard. I said I have a $25.00 "bench min." because I have to stop
andput my work aside to do these "small jobs". he said no problem and
was happy. Is this a fair amount for a quickie?
