You just dont seem to get the point! The manufacturers have layed the golden
eggs (service opportunities) of the past. They dont owe you anything. You
have chosen to take advantage of this situation rather than doing something
else for a living. But the money just isnt there and there isnt anything
that you or I or any organization can do about it. They know that you cant
survive on this pittance and they dont expect you to be around forever so
they are taking steps to handle future service in an entirely different way
that doesnt require technicians and service centers. Big companies like UPS
and IBM are already involved in exclusive national service on many products,
and new products coming on to the market have been designed to take
advantage of that method of service. So you wont be seeing the new stuff and
if you do, there wont be any parts or manuals. If you have an idea about how
to turn this situation back to our advantage, that wont kill the
manufacturers or make the products so expensive that people wont buy them,
lets hear it!
