Hi Ken, TechAssist is awesome, not only do I receive invaluable tips from a bunch of great guys but English lessons to boot. I knew what Jim was talking; I was only clarifying the spelling in the event someone out there saw this message and didn't understand English very well. I did not mean to belittle Jim's grammar in anyway. Thanks to Robert for the service manual, in conjunction with Ed's tips I should now be able to repair this SMPS. God bless and thanks to all who responded. Notice, he used the word "nor." Nor is always used with NEITHER. Therefore, the word neither is left understood. The correct sentence would read "Sorry, but neither lightning, flood, falling off the stand, being run over by a truck, insurgency, nor nuclear war will be covered!" English majors differ on the use of a comma following the last of a series. I prefer its use, so I inserted it. Besides, you knew the meaning anyway! Ed sent you some great tips for that set. Look for high-value resistors around the MOSFET. I believe it feeds the gate. When they open, there is no start up voltage. You may find no other fault. Although anything is possible, I usually find the MOSFET shorted when it fails.
