Thomson in US eliminated 1200 jobs, which went to China. That's 1200
people, and families which quite likely will go unto some form of
Government assistance. I don't think that there is any way of turning
this around. Unless some branch of government gets involved. May have to
sidestep some patent right, open a few large factories to manufacture
this stuff, pay the workers a "reasonable" wage, keep the unions out.
Market the product for Homeland consumption. Give a proper Warranty,
have spare parts available. Sell at slightly more than cost of
production. This gives jobs to those that want them, and stimulates the
economy. Maybe use the billions we spend overseas, helping countries,
that really don't want our help, and revitalize our own interests for a
change.
I realize this sounds over simplistic. But I would rather own
one "good" VCR, and pay $300 for it, then have 3 Orion's at $69 in my
Wall Unit, so I have 2 backups.
Think of the joy of picking up the phone, calling the Parts
Department, or Service Department, and some one saying, How ya all doing
this morning"..that in itself would be worth the extra money.
