[TechAssist] Re: Tektronix 485 Oscilloscope - Power Supply Cycling ON/OFF - FIXED

There is no setup time, ours are always hooked up too at all tech positions.
Probes are hanging right there. Well I do unplug them so as not to get wiped
out by surge, but..the AC cord is tie wrapped right at the outlet. I just
don't need the scope on 99.99999999999% of our repairs. Mainly I need it for
audio tracing if any. Like I said, I could use it on all jobs if I wanted,
but..if it is not needed and the repair can be made with a fluke and
soldering iron why use it? Just to say, hey, I am a TV repairman, I can use
a scope. Shoot. I could make the TV look like a human patient with all sorts
of equipment hooked to it, probes sticking out everywhere. I could hook up
10 pieces of test equipment to every job, but why? That is not going to fix
it any better for the customer. I didn't say a scope is not needed in our
shops, I just took exception to someone's statement that it is needed on all
jobs and how could you ever replace a H.O.T. without hooking a scope to the
unit.

JEEZ! what do you guys do with the scopes? You must unplug them
and put them back in the box after every use!
Mine is just as handy as the multimeter, always on in standby mode...that
is , single trace mode which basically kills the trace until I need to
see it.
One channel has a standard x10,100mhz probe on it, the other has an HV
probe. Both are "grab and go", just like the multi...what setup time are
you referring to?
