I recently ran into this situation and tested the JVC part Vs the generic and could detect no difference in any voltage at the chip or in the secondary, varying the AC supply from 100v to 125v. That is differences between the two chips. I left the generic in circuit and it has been running fine. Since that repair I have done two more and found the generics work fine. Still have that $29 part for comparison if I get a PS that acts funny... I have heard repeatedly that you have to use the JVC part but can see no reason to do so. I certainly have tons of the STR-F6626 's in stock and I know I paid less than $5 for each but I jumped when I saw Tritronics have the /F3 listed for $29! Probably the plain STRF6626 cannot be subbed for the STRF6626/F3 but I thought someone may know the REAL answer. > Old regulator blew from a huge surge in a JVC AV-27F702 and also blew a 5.1 volt zener (of course, I don't have it!)... > > TIA!!! > > Gary > Valley TV > Drums office > -- > __________________________________________________________ > Sign-up for your own personalized E-mail at Mail.com > http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup > > CareerBuilder.com has over 400,000 jobs.
