I recently ran into this situation and tested the JVC part Vs the generic
and could detect no difference in any voltage at the chip or in the
secondary, varying the AC supply from 100v to 125v.  That is differences
between the two chips.  I left the generic in circuit and it has been
running fine.  Since that repair I have done two more and found the generics
work fine.  Still have that $29 part for comparison if I get a PS that acts
funny...

I have heard repeatedly that you have to use the JVC part but can see no
reason to do so.

I certainly have tons of the STR-F6626 's in stock and I know I paid less
than $5 for each but I jumped when I saw Tritronics have the /F3 listed for
$29!  Probably the plain STRF6626 cannot be subbed for the STRF6626/F3 but I
thought someone may know the REAL answer.
