[TechAssist] Sony camcorder CCD-TR54, what caused tape to not eject?

Tape would not eject. When the power was turned on the unit would beep
approx. 18 times and then stop. I ejected the tape by using a 9-volt
battery to power up the loading motor. Now the unit works fine. My
question is what caused the tape to not eject in the first place? I
would like to repair it so it won?t happen again. Thanks.
