[TechAssist] Re: Sony Mod: KP-51HW40 Blue retrace and shuts down

Rejuv on a 2-3 year old crt? These are the ones that Sony extended the
warranty on. I'd be changing them if any instability is present. The focus
block is most likely, but if the set is in the serial number range for the
CRT problems I'd be looking really hard for unstable emission.

Ben: I have seen the Screen/ Focus block bad on that exact set many times.
That would be my bet. I have one for test now on most Sony PTV's and can
rule it out quickly. I also have had to rejuvenate the Blue tube with the
CR7000. Have not had to replace a tube for that problem yet, usually the
block or have to rejuv. the Blue Tube.

This unit will turn on with blue screen and retrace
lines and shuts down in 10 sec. Screen volts 400v on
blue screen, red and green 300v. Turn screen control
down for blue and it works. Swap red and blue screen
wires and the blue is ok and the red has faint retrace
lines but does not shut down. I am thinking screen
control block. I have changed caps and spark gap. What
do you think? Thanks Ben
