It depends. Most of the time just the lamp is bad. It may be wise to give an
estimate for both to cover your butt. The modification about the resistor
and capacitor are not needed. That was one of the original mods to the lamp
driver (ballast). The new ones do not require it.

Hi Bob,
Can you tell me if I change both the Lamp and driver. Do I
still need to do the modification repair (saw several notes indicating
changing a resistor, adding a capacitor, etc) on this model? Thanks,
