SUBJECT: Stuck in menu mode
Symptom: Turn set on and up comes customer menu and you can't do any other
feature.
Solution: The fact that the CPU will turn the set on is a very good indicator
that it is more than likely working OK. 2
items must be checked that will cause the functions to lock up.
1. The I2C bus clock and data lines must be checked for 4.6VDC and the load
problem taken care of if
either of these lines are low.
2. A CPU which is locked up on an external command such as a stuck button or
corrosion on one of the
buttons or the resistor ladder. (caused by the envioment the set is in). Try
pressing front panel buttons
simultaneously in different sequences and see if you can get the unit to change
into any function. This
is a good indicator of corrosion.
3. Zener diodes on the key lines can become defective causing a voltage to be
lower then it should. The
CPU translates this voltage to a wrong command.
4. Always check clock and data lines for proper voltage. Hight resistance
leakage or a stuck buton is next in line.
