With the back cover off, you say it will not occur. Do you mean it plays O.K.? If so is the cover possibly touching crt board, you might try freeze mist or a little heat ( hair dryer) around chassis and crt boards. maybe g2 adjustment , touchy, like the Phillips M8 Ch's?. Hope this maybe helps.. Bill's TV Sonora, Cal. Kevin's TV Repair <kevintv@xxxxxxx> wrote: Bad picture tube? Does anyone have a hint for this problem before I give up on it? This Sony KV27FV310 with chassis BA-5D (SCC-S65K-A) made in 2003 came in with the picture flashing bright and going to shutdown. The timer light would flash 2 times and repeat. You needed to press power twice to turn on again. I have replaced IC702 twice (TDA6108JF), also R715, C704, D704, C705, C706 on the CRT board and C541 on the A board, all in the +205 source area. I resoldered everything on the CRT board. The problem occurs after the set plays about 1 hour with antenna or test pattern signal. It will not occur with the back off.
