Jeff;
That one rings a bell somewhat, but not sure which model it was.
Here's what I got.
If it has C707 on the CRT board 4.7ufd/250 change it.
If it has Regulator driver Q601 2SA840 change with ECG288
If it has the 2 regulators (9V) IC581 and IC582 resolder the connections,
These symptoms were all for creeping brightness from the side, but may not
pertain to your chassis.
