It is not difficult. Float the heater line to the crt pcb. Take a length
of wire, wrap 3 to 4 turns onto the core of the flyback and connect each end
to the heater pins of the CRT. I used to use test lead wire, but that costs
too much. Any standed wire will do, even zip cord.
I usually install a 2.7 ohm, 3-5 watt resistor in series with one end to the
heater for current limiting, but that is about it. You can measure the
voltage with a scope, but you don't have to.
My experience is (with Sony tubes) it is an exercise in futility. If you
are getting IK blanking, a wrap won't help much. The jug is shot. You can
try a wrap, rejuv, voodu, or prayer. Won't last long, and the customer will
be pissed off because they think it will work, REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY TIMES
YOU SAY IT MAY NOT.
Good luck. Feel free to call me if you like. I reserve the right to be
wrong, and welcome any and all opinions!
