[TechAssist] Sony KP46XBR35 pincushion

Hi group,
About six weeks ago repaired the power supply and convergence circuit in thi 
set.
Now I have it back with pincushion problem, have only found
2SA1301  Q508 pin-out transistor shorted. Is it normal for this part to go 
without any other cause or part failure?
What else should I look for?
Have checked the normal caps and other transistors Q505-Q506-Q507 NTF
