[TechAssist] Sony CXA1477AS parts alert!

I normally order my Sony jungle ICs (CXA1477AS, Sony part# 8-753-062-50)
from B&D Enterprises. However, they were temporarily out of stock and I was
waiting for them to come in. Then I received a newsletter from ESDA and
Union Electronics that had an ad in it that listed the CXA1477AS as Sony
originals for about the same price as i pay from B&D Enterprises and it said
they has them in stock. Since I was also out of them, I decided I would
order two. Well they came in yesterday and they were in pink plastic bags
handmarked with "CXA1477AS" (not like the ones from B&D Enterprises that
come in the original Sony plastic bag with the Sony part number also). I was
suspicious so I removed them from the bag only to find out that the pins
were tinned and malformed and it was quite obvious that they had been
removed from a unit as they also had residue where the pins meet the body of
the IC. One of them even had a partially torn sticker on the bottom that was
well aged. I just called Union Electronics to report this to my sales rep
there and he gave me an RA# and was completely surprised at this. Just
wanted everyone to have a "heads up" on this. The rep said he was going to
have the purchasing dept investigate this but I don't know if I will be
informed as to the results.
