[TechAssist] ShadmaskSolderGunDegauss

/// Your solder gun is a current transformer with a massive primary, single
turn secondary. Disconnect the tip if burning it up troubles you. Trigger
the gun, move it in, and attempt to degauss a small area of the screen. Turn
the gun so the coil is parallel to the mask. (Hey, you would have tried that
but non techs do get to read this forum.)

If you are unable to degauss a small area or if the purity problem returns
to the degaussed area you can suspect the shadow mask problem.

I have never used this in very large screens. I used it in monitor size
tubes (up to 21 inch), even those with lightening damage. In one case a
massive speaker magnet had been stored on top of a composite montior that
would not self degauss.

A massive magnetism problem will result in all one color or absence of most
color over a large part of the screen.
