I never saw a need for the vcr analyzer...even in the heyday of vcr repair.
I think the "best part" of it was supposed to be the drum tester.
A well placed scope probe would tell us the story in half the time!
I developed a generic proceedures manual that was very effective with
standard equipment.
The old VA62 still serves us as a signal generator and ringer, but seems to
get less and less use as time goes by. As you say, technology demands that
we change our techniques regularly.
The "digital revolution" has given us onboard diagnostics and front panel
internal adjustment capability. Just hope the video still displays!
If not...it's back to basics or hopefully an external interface.
