I had one 6 months ago where the picture would get all scrambled for a
few seconds and then go normal for minutes.  With the back off I noticed
that when the pix went funny smoke rose from the yoke--indicating an
obvious intermittent short in the windings.

When I have seen JVC's with bad yokes....they take out the power supply.

This TV is made by JVC for Sears.  The set is only 4 years old and has a
trapezoidal picture.  The picture is about 1/3 the width (horizontally)
on the top and 1/2 the width at the bottom.  Plus the convergence is way
off.  Does this sound like the yoke?  How would I test if it is the yoke
or not?  TIA.  By the way, this yoke is bonded to the tube.
